FIRE DESTROYS BUILDING
IN EXIRA FRIDAY MORNING

--------

Seventy-five chickens were burned
in a fire which destroyed a large barn
on the Jes Williams place here, about
2:30 Friday morning. A large quan-
ity of hay also burned with the build-
ing. A car stored in the structure and
belonging to Harry Stafford was
saved. It is not known how the fire
was started.

The J. S. Small family was awak-
ened by the blaze and turned in the
alarm, but the fire had gained big
headway and the local firemen were
unable to save the building. Fortun-
ately, a large barn on the Tom Wah-
lert place and located but a few feet
from the burned structure, was saved
through the successful efforts of the
volunteer fire fighters.

An alarm was turned in from the
G. F. Manufacturing Co. plant Thurs-
day morning, but no blaze was dis-
covered.
