Ella Ball [born September 1883 probably in Keokuk County, Iowa] and John D. Snelling [born ca. 1877 in Missouri] were married on 16 April 1902 in Appanoose County. They had one son, Charles William Snelling, born 15 December 1906 in Missouri. In several censuses, Charles is living with his grandparents, the Ball family. In 1930, he is enumerated with his mother Ella Howard and his stepfather, Ogden Howard and his new 17 year old wife, Lucille Snelling. Ogden Howard was born 16 March 1891 in Iowa and died 29 December 1965 in Los Angeles, California. Charles William Snelling died 20 July 1985 in Sonoma County, California. Possibly Ogden and Ella are buried in Highland Cemetery under the "Howard" name. I could not locate a death for Ella in California. It looks like a good possibility that Ella and John Snelling probably divorced.
