I did a search on www.familysearch.org (the LDS site) and found one record for him by putting in his first and last name and limiting the search to Iowa in the U.S.

The only record for him lists:

Birth: 1876 Mo
Parents
Father: Columbus TAYLOR
Mother: Catherine Ann

Only one child is listed from the marriage and that's the one you cite.

Then I did a search for his name in Missouri and found an 1880 census record for him living with his parents in Columbus, Johnson County, Missouri. Here is the household information formated very badly but it's the best I can do here.

The fields are (in order):
