In Response To: Looking for Stevens of Appanoose County (Linda Tope Trent)

I am the gt gt granddaughter of Amos Stevens, from Brown Co. Ohio, who came to Iowa/Missour between 1855 and 1860. He had a son James on the 1860 App. Co. Iowa census, age 21. They settled
down in what sounds like you described on the stateline.Wells Twnsp. There was at one time a dispute over where the state line really was.
I have probate court records for T.B. Stevens, another son, and Jordan Stevens also a son. They all owned land in this area. Some of my family still lives down in that area. I would love to share any information I have with you and would love to see the pictures. Maybe we can be of help to each other.

Feel free to email me at mjf@iowasocean.com

Hope to hear from you soon
Melva

also have a PLatt book showing where the Stevens farms were located in 1895
