Mrs. Simon Brandt of this city was called to Ossian Friday by the death of her mother, Mrs. Simon Nolte. Mrs. Johanna C. Nolte, 78, died Friday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lena Meyer, one mile north of Ossian.
She was born March 9, 1848, in Lippe-Detmold, Germany, and was married to Simon Nolte. Mr. and Mrs. Nolte came to the United States in 1884 and settled in Ludlow township, where they lived until a few years ago.
She is survived by her husband, five daughters: Mrs. Lena Meyer, Ossian; Mrs. August Brandt, Waukon; Mrs. Louise Evans, Sioux City; Mrs. Lydia Sebastian, Postville; Mrs. Lora Goeke, Ludlow; three sons: William Nolte, Ludlow; John Nolte, Burr Oak and Benjamin Nolte, Burr Oak.
The funeral ceremonies were held Monday at the Bethlehem church, Ludlow Rev. Widmeyer officiating, after which the burial took place at the Bethlehem cemetery.
