MCNEIL, PALAS, SAUEGLING, HURLEY

Daniel McNeil, 60, died last Thursday afternoon, March 13, at his home near Hardin. Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's church, Saturday morning with Father Luke Donlon officiating. Interment was in the Postville cemetery.

Mr. McNeil was born March 24, 1881, on the farm home, 5 miles south of Postville, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel McNeil. His mother died when he was 3 years old. He received his education in the rural schools of Grand Meadow township, later attending Valder college at Decorah.

He grew to manhood on the farm and followed farming for a number of years, later moving to Postville and engaging in business.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2204 at Elkader.

He was married to Miss Anora Palas, April 30, 1913, and to them were born a son and daughter who with his wife survive him. They are Leo, a student of the University of Iowa, and Mrs. Arthur Sauegling (Helen) of Monona. Also surviving are three sisters, Mae and Rose of Postville and Mrs. M.R. Hurley (Elizabeth) of Elkader, a twin brother, Edward of Postville, and another brother, Dr. James G. McNeil of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brothers, George and John, sister, Minnie, and stepmother, Emma McNeil.

Pall bearers were Bert Waters, Jim Humphrey, John Hoogan, Earl Abernethy, and James and Henry Steele.
