Randy Garin, 46, died of a sudden illness on Friday, June 29, 2012. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Newhall, with Father Brian Dellaert as celebrant. Public visitation also will be held at the church from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception-Wexford Cemetery near Harpers Ferry at 4 p.m. Monday.
A memorial fund has been established.
Randy was born Oct. 16, 1965, in La Crosse, Wis., to Keith Francis and Patricia Marie (Gander) Garin, and graduated from Lansing Kee High School in 1984. He then attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. On July 11, 1987, he was united in marriage to Jody Schulte at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin.
Randy owned and operated Exclusive Landscapes in Newhall and in the winter months worked at the Newhall Locker.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, served as president of the Newhall Library board, served on the Newhall Zoning Commission and was a member of the Rock Ridge Residential board of directors.
In his leisure he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, card tricks, cheering at the girls’ softball games, and most of all he loved spending time with his girls.
Randy never knew a stranger, was quick to share his sense of humor, and always had a smile.
Randy will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He was a devoted husband and father and truly loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Jody; and his daughters, Kelsey and Alyssa of Newhall; his brother, Jim Garin of Norway; his sisters, JoAnn (Gary) Perez of Cedar Rapids, Janice Erger of Atkins and Janette (Ken) Gully of Berryton, Kan.; his parents-in-law, Norbert and Rita Schulte of New Albin; Jody’s brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Nicholas Garin.
