Lansing, Ia. - Funeral services for Mrs. Sophronia Marie Hover, 88, were held at the Federated Church Wednesday afternoon with Lloyd Bartholomew officiating. During the service George Aschom sang two solos.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

As Sophronia Marie Spencer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.P. Spencer, she was born in Cleveland, O., March 1, 1850. She came with her parents to Lansing when she was five years old. Musically inclined, she gave lessons and played in churches when 13 years old. Completing the eight grades of the Lansing schools, she attended Grinnell College for two years.

She was married to Elim Hover at De Soto, Wis., on Jan. 20, 1867. They made their home in several towns in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota where the former operated a photo gallery.

While living in West Union in 1876, their two children, Birdie and Freddy, died within three weeks during a diphtheria epidemic. Mr. Hover died in a soldiers' home in California in 1921.

In May, 1929, Mrs. Hover returned to Lansing and since made her home with Mrs. Katherine Asay.

She was a member of the Christian Science Church and the Eastern Star chapter which gave the graveside ceremonies.

Mrs. Hover is a cousin of the late Mrs. Marshall Field of Chicago.
