TO CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING (Picture) - Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmidt BENTON COUNTY NEWS - Watkins: May 22 - Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schmidt, retired farmers, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary here Monday, May 29.

A family dinner will be held in St. Patrick's hall, and open house will be in the church basement from 2 to 4 p.m. Open house will be held again in the evening at the couple's home here from 7 to 9 o'clock. All friends are cordially invited to call.

Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt were married May 29, 1900, in St. Michael's church in Norway. Her maid name was Katie Spellerberg and she came from Fairfax. After their marriage they began farming two miles north of Wakins and continued to operate the place for 44 years. A son, Gilbert, is now running the 160- acre farm.

Besides Gilbert, the couple has three other sons and one daughter. The daughter is Mrs. Thomas Gibney of Watkins. The other sons are Arthur of Norway (He is the eldest at 49) and Clayton and Dick, both of Watkins. Dick, 32, is the youngest. There are also 19 grandchildren.

Mrs. Schmidt is 69, he is 78. Both are in excellent health. They retired from farming about six years ago.
