Geo W. Wilt

Geo. W. Wilt died very suddenly of appolexy at his farm home two miles north of town Tuesday morning. He was in his eighty-second year and had resided on the same place for nearly thirty-five years. The funeral arrangements have not been made at this time because his son John had gone to Chicago on Monday with a car of stock and no word has been received from him.

Rites Friday for Mrs. John Wilt, 88

Funeral services will be held in the Oak Grove Christian church Friday afternoon at two o'clock for Mrs. John Wilt, 88, who died yesterday at the home, of her nephew and wife Mr. and Mrs. Robert Daugherty near Vinton, after a week's illness. She was a lifelong resident of Benton township near Shellsburg.

Rev. E. L. Shaffer will conduct the services. Burial will be in Shellsburg Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs Wilt was visiting at the Daugherty home and was stricken ill while there...

She was born as Ida Freeman on March 2, 1863, near Shellsburg a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Freeman. She married John Wilt on Jan 5, 1882 near Shellsburg. He died 15 years ago.

Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Maude E. Cue of Shellsburg three sons, Carl and Glenn of Shellsburg and Earl of La Porte City, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family. Three sisters and one brother preceded her in death. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

She was a lifelong member of the Oak Grove church and was the first organist there.

The body is at the Fry-holland funeral...it will be removed to the Oak Grove Church.
