Wm. Wagmer Died Sunday
William Wagmer
Wm. Wagmer of Keystone, 65, passed away at the Vinton hospital at 6:30 Sunday evening, April 1st following an operation. Mr.Wagmer had been ill for several days and on Friday he was taken to the hospital where an immediate operation for appendicitis was found necessary. The appendix had ruptured and his condition was considered very grave.
Mr Wagmer had a host of friends throughout this community and the news of his passing came as a sad shock to all of them.
William Wagmer was born Huntington, Ind. Aug. 4, 1868. In 1892 he came to Keystone to make his home, where on May 3, 1894 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Fries. To this union were born six children, five of whom, with the wife survive him. They are Clarence of Keystone, Rudolph of Montevideo, Minn., Walter of Mt. Auburn, Mrs. Helen Peterson of Dysart and Mrs. Mamie Carney of Milwaukee, Wis. He also leaves on brother, Fred Wagmer of Huntingdon, Ind.
The Wagmers resided near Keystone until 1916 when they moved to Montevideo, Minn., later living at Marshfield, Wis. and Milwaukee. In 1928 they returned to Keystone where they have since resided. Mr. Wagmer was a brick mason.
Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and were in charge of Rev. Caldwell, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Vinton. Burial was in the Keystone cemetery.
Among those from a distance who were here for the last rites were Rudolph Wagman of Montevideo, Minn., Mrs. Thos. Carney of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. A. E. Carney, Maurice, Joseph and James Carney and Mrs. H. Kuldes of Williamsburg, Mrs. Frank Hopkins, Mrs. Harold Anderson, Mrs. A. Kunkel, Mrs. Leo Kunkel and daughter Marguerite, Mrs. Margaret Bartlett and Mr. Edelen, all of Marshalltown, Allen Sharp and Ed Kelly of Janesville, besides a great many from neighboring towns.
