Carl Swope
Shellsburg-Carl Eugene Swope, 44 died Tuesday, July 15, 1997, at University of Iowa Hospitals and clinic, Iowa City, after an extended illness.

He was born July 4, 1953, at Virginia Gay Hospital, Vinton, the son of James and Gladys Senft Swope. He was raised and attended school in Shellsburg and later joined the Job Corps, receiving a degree in the Culinary Arts while in Deadwood, SD.

Mr. Swope worked in Deadwood at the Turgeons Supper Club and later moved back to the Shellsburg and Cedar Rapids area. He worked for the Killian's and Martin's Department Stores, DEECO Electronics and later at Cargill Company in the accounts payable department.

He was preceded in death by a brother Frederick.

Survivors include his father, James of Shellsburg; his mother, Gladys Yates, Branson, MO; two brothers Ron Swope, Atlantic, MO, and James B Swope, San Marcus, Ca; two stepsisters, Diane, San Antonio, TX, and Lois Ann Crosby, Mesa, Az; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday with inturment at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg Rev. Beverly Hughes, Shellsburg Presbyterian Church, will officiate...

Frederick Swope
Branson, Mo- Frederick Lee Swope, 41 Branson , Mo formerly of shellsburg, died Friday morning, August 6 1993, at his home after a short illness.

Survivors include his mother, Gladys Yates, Branson, Mo; father, James Swope, Shellsburg; three brothers, Carl, Shellsburg; Jim, San Marcos, Ca; Ron, Atlantic; grandmother, Helen Senft, Shellsburg; an uncle, George Columbia, SC; and aunt, Eleanor, Shellsburg; one niece; five nephews and many cousins.

There will be no visitations, the body was cremated.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 1993 by Doctor Dennis Morey, Vinton, at Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg, with military rites...
