Ephram Spaulding

Ephram Spaulding was born January 10, 1817 in Crawford County, Penn., and died at his's son's home south of Vinton, April 13, 1892, age 75 years, 3 months, and 3 days. He moved from Pennsylvia to Illinois in 1841, thence to Iowa in 1854. He was married in 1856 to Miss Marietta Harris, was the father of three children. Mr. Spaulding was a man of good character and quiet disposition. He joined the Baptist church when a young man, and said he was ready and anxious to die. His funeral was conducted by Rev. N.W. Burtner, April 15, 1892, at Prairie Church.

Marietta Spaulding

A GOOD MOTHER GONE

Mrs. E. Spaulding Passed Away at the Home of Her Son Oren Sunday

Miss Marietta Harris was born near Marshall, Michigan, in November, 1835. In her youth her parents moved to Wisconsin, and from there to Chicago where they lived until hse was eighteen years of age, when they came to Iowa, locating at Marion. At the age of twenty she was joined in marriage to Ephriam (sic) Spalding (sic). To this union were born three children, Judson, who died 27 years ago, Oren and Albert of Benton county.

Mrs. Spalding departed this life Sunday morning, March 29th, at the home of her son Oren, aged 72 years and 4 months. The husband and father preceded her in death sixteen years ago. The funeral service was held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Prairie U.B. church. Rev. S.S. Smick in charge.
