Frederick Schlotterback dies at age 82

SHELLSBURG - Frederick C. Schlotterback, 82, retired farmer, died Wednesday evening at the Americana Nursing Center in Cedar Rapids...

He was born Nov. 17, 1888 near Atkins, a son of C. H. and Anna Doebel Schlotterback, and was married Jan. 29, 1921 to Martha Williams. He sernved in the army in World War I and was a 50 year charter member of the American Legion in Shellsburg.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by three sons, Charles of Vinton, Roger of Odessa, Tex. and E8 Keith Schlotterback, serving with the Air Force at Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Carl E. (Scharlene) Anderson of Vinton and Mrs. Richard (Genevieve) Krohn of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Elizabeth Kemme of Longview, Wash.; one brother, Walter, of Marion; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg, with the Rev. E. Glen Lindquist in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg...

Martha Enid Schlotterback

Martha Enid Schlotterback, 85, of Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Belle Plaine and formerly of Shellsburg, died at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the Beverly Manor Nursing Home.

She was born Aug. 18, 1897, in Benton County, Iowa to Edward O. and Florence A. Rezzier Williams. She married Frederick C. Schlotterback on Jan. 29, 1921, in Cedar Rapids. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons, Charles of Springdale, Ark., Roger of Hobbs, N.M. and Keith of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Carl E. (Sharlene) Anderson of Vinton and Mrs. Richard (Genenvieve) Krohn of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Ida Carbaugh of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, two brothers and two sisters.

She was housewife and a member of Grace Trinity Church. She was a member of the Shellsburg Legion Auxillary.

Services will be at Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg Saturday, Nov. 20 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Ray Haas will conduct the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg...
