Helen Isabelle Hyde

Helen Isabelle Hyde, 90, formerly of Shellsburg, died Friday, March 1, 2002 in Mercy Iowa City following a brief illness. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.

Helen was born Sept 5, 1911 in Shellsburg, the daughter of William A. and Cora Mae (Dickinson) Kibbie. She graduated from high school in Cedar Rapids, and attended Hamilton Business College. On May 16, 1935, she marrried John G. Hyde in Shellsburg. For many years the couple owned and operated a farm implement dearlership. Hyde Implement in Shellsburg, and later the Shellsburg Hardward Store, John and Helen moved to Iowa City in 1986 to be closer to their family. John died Nov. 10, 1987.

She was a member of Grace Trinity Church in Shellsburg, Shellsburg OES, Happy 20 Club of Shellsburg and former member of the Rebekah Lodge there.

Her families' roots go deep in the Shellsburg area; many of the founding fathers of the commmunity were generations of her family from years past.

Her family includes two sons and their wives, Richard and Judy Hyde of Cheiek, Wis, and William P. and Garlinda Hyde, missionaries in the Philippines; a daughter and her husband, Barbara and Richard Brooker of Iowa City; grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Salman Elbedour, John and his wife, Laura Hyde; Jeffrey and his wife, Teresa Hyde; Jason Hyde; Scott and his wife, Jane Brooker; Shelley and her husband, Glenn Amsiel; Sharie and her husband, Jeff Bolender; Timothy Hyde and Steven and his wife, Noit Hyde; great-grandchildren, Judson and matthew Brooker, Heidi, Hillary and Thomas Ansiel; Daniel, Molly and Isabel Bolender; Leena and Annisa Elbedour and Lukas Hyde. Two sisters, Dorothea Thousand and Lucille Walker of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Raymond Kibbie.

Steve Hyde

SHELLSBURG - Steve Hyde, age 43, died Monday, May 5, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids after suffering a massive heart attack at his residence. Private Family Services will be held and the Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.

He was born February 19, 1960 at Cedar Rapids to Clifton and Betty Lou (Fiebelkorn) Hyde and graduated from the Shellsburg High School in 1979. Steve is survived by his parents, Clifton and Betty Lou of Shellsburg; his sisters, Marcia Beatty of Vinton and Pam Hyde of Shellsburg; his maternal grandmother, Edith Fiebelkorn of Shellsburg; and his nieces and nephews, Brittany, Courtney, Wesley, Kelsey and Brody Beatty. His maternal grandfather, Harold Fiebelkorn and his paternal grandparents, Albert and Marcella Hyde preceded him in death...
