Clyde E. Grimm

Shellsburg- Clyde E. Grimm age 53, died Sunday, August 20, 2006 as a result of a Motorcycle accident near Palo.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2006 Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E 6th St., in Vinton with Rev. John Karrick officiating. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery near Shellsburg...

Clyde was born July 27, 1953 at Strawberry Point, Ia. to Carl and Alma (Haynes) Grimm and graduated from Starmont High School in 1971. During the war in Viet Nam, he served his nation in the US Navy. Clyde was a District Sales Manager for Koike Aronson, Inc. of Arcade, NY.
On November 10, 1979 he married Becky Murphy at Cedar Raids and the couple have made their home in Shellsburg the past twenty-two years. In addition to his wife, Becky, he is survived by his sons, Ryan (Samantha) Grimm of Cedar Rapids, and Brian (Diane) DeRiemacker of Davenport; his daughter, Shawnell Grimm and fiance, Matthew Rogers of Shellsburg; his granddaughters, Megan Mallory and Hanna Murphy of Davenport; his mother, Alma Grimm of Straberry Point; his brothers Carl (Sondra) Grimm of Hutchinson, KS. and Craig (Marie) Grimm of Solon, his sister, Carole (Melvin) Schuchmann of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Grimm and his brother, Robert Dean Grimm.

Wayne Lavern Grimm

Central City

Wayne Lavern Grimm, 75 of Central City, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at St Luke's Hospital Cedar Rapids following a brief illness. Services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Gospel Light Baptist Church, Marion, by the Rev. Ron Morrow...Burial 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Shellsburg Cemetery, Shellsburg.

Survivors include his wife, Betty his children, Ivan Grimm of Cedar Rapids, Cecilla (Patrick) Michael of Vinton, Carma (Andrew) Burrows of Warrenton, Mo., Brenda (Lee) Heims and Lorena (Jergade) Poyner, both of Cedar Rapids; his stepchildren, Nile Richard (Deb) Mentzer Jr. of Central City, Nelson (Dawn) Mentzer of Springville and Sandra (Rodney) Moyer of Central City five grandchildren, Brooke (Josh) Ritter of Shellsburg, Brian (Janie Piechowski) Michael of St. Louis Park, Minn., Brandon Michael of Vinton, Alisha Lindsay of Kansas City, Mo., and Deidra Lindsay of Warrenton, Mo; four stepgrandchildren. Melssa Mentzer of Marion. Anthony Mentzer of Central City, Jennifer (Justin) Kerper of Marion and Michael Mentzer of Springville; five great grandchildren; four brothers, Dick (Berdina) Grimm, Ronnie Grimm, Delbert Grimm, all of Cedar Rapids, and Bennie (Donna) Grimm of Ely; and a sister, Beverly (Billy) Ballard of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Nadine in 1980; two brothers, Ernest "Jack" and Glenn Grimm; and a sister, Margie Ballard.

Wayne was born Aug. 25, 1932, the son of Harold and Edith (Gingrich) Grimm, in Keystone, Iowa. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. On April 2 1983, he married Betty Kessinger in Urbana, Iowa. A farmer, Wayne also worked for Prestressed Concrete, retiring in 1986 ater 27 years of service. He was a member of the gospel Light Baptist Church and a former member of the Shellsburg Volunteer Fire Department and Shellsburg American Legion. Military honors by Shellsburg American Legion.
