Budy R.Fiebelkorn dies at age 42

Shellsburg-Buddy Ray Fiebelkorn, 42 died early this morning at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following an apparent heart attack.

He was born June 19, 1935 Cedar Rapids, a son of Harold and Edith Gardner Fiebelkorn, and married Phylis Huedepohl at Williamsburg on June 12, 1964. He was employed by Cherry Burrell as a machinist 16 years and also owned and operated the Hillside Greenhouse in Shellsburg three years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shellsburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael, and one daughter, Christine, at home; his parents of Shellsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Clifton (Betty Lou) Hyde and Mrs. Steven (Ronette) Ternus of Shellsburg and Mrs. Conrad (Diane) Svobada of Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, Donald of Shellsburg, Terry of Elgin, Ill, and Timmy of St. Louis, Mo.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Hedtke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery...

Harold William Fiebelkorn

Harold W. Fiebelkorn, 81, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, in his home after a sudden illness. Services: 1 pm Saturday, Zion Lutheran Church by the Rev. Marck Leckband, Burial: Oakwood Cemetry. Friends may call at Overton Family Funeral Home, Vinton.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; two sons, Terry (Sandra) of Elgin, Ill., and Timothy of St. Louis; three daughters, Diann (Conrad) Svoboda; Betty Lou (Clifton) Hyde and Ronette (Steve) Ternus, all of Shellsburg; two daughters-in-law, Wilma (Tom) Busenbark of Shellsburg and Phyliss Fiebelkorn of Brooklyn, Iowa; a sister Wilma (Jim) Burrell of Cedar Rapids; an aunt and uncle, Ilma and Walter Schminke of Newhall; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bud and Donald; a daughter in infancy; a grandson, Craig; six brothers; and two sisters.

Harold William Fiebelkorn was born April 30, 1916 on a farm near Newhall, the son of Willaim and Christine Werning Fiebelkorn. He was raised near Newhall, where he attended parochial school, but had to quit early to go to work. He later returned to finish his education and graduated along with his son, Donald, from the Shellsburg High Schoool in 1956. Harold was united in marriage to Edith Gardner on July 3, 1937, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. They farmed together until 1942, when they moved to Shellsburg to open a welding shop. In later years, Harold operated it together with his Donald, and then eventually sold it to his son-in-law, Steve Ternus. He also was a past president of the Iowa and National Blacksmiths associations. Harold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and lifetime member of the Fire Department both in Shellsburg, and active in the Boy Scouts and Avcion Trailer Association.

Phyllis Marie Fiebelkorn

Mrs. Phyllis M. Fiebelkorn, 60, of Brooklyn, IA, formerly of Shellsburg, IA, and Guernsey, IA, died Sunday, June 5, 2005, in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.

Phyllis Marie Huedepohl Fiebelkorn was born December 10, 1944 at Marengo, IA. Her parents were Fremont Huedepohl and Irene Charlotte Zimmerman Huedepohl.

Phyllis received her elementary education in St. Paul's Lutheran School, Williamsburg and Williamsburg High School. She was married to Buddy Ray Fiebelkorn on June 12, 1964, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. They were the parents of two children, Christine and Michael. They lived in Cedar Rapids and Shellsburg until Bud's death in 1978. Phyllis married Gerald Wiedemeier and they lived in Guernsey, later divorcing.

Phyllis had worked for the Morris Plan in Cedar Rapids and was currently an insurance agent for Stiefel Insurance of Victor. Phyllis was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Martha Circle and Cancer Awareness...

Her parents, her husband Buddy Fiebelkorn, and a brother Clark Huedepohl preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Christine Fiebelkorn of Muscatine; a son and his wife Michael and Stacie Fiebelkorn of Brooklyn; a brother Darwin Huedepohl of Victor and a sister Jasiel Timm of Victor; five grandchildren, Andrew, Austin, McKenna, Kenadie and Kaiden; and a very dear friend, like a daughter, Lori Schafbuch of Brooklyn.

Funeral services for Phyllis were held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Rev. David Rogula officiated and the musician was Angie Radcliffe. Honorary casket-bearers were Terry Huedepohl, Mark Huedepohl, Jeremy Ternus, Travis Fiebelkorn and Todd Fiebelkorn. Casket-bearers were Paul Timm, Loren Timm, Scott Svoboda, Tristan Ternus, Curt Larkin and Shane Wilson. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery at Shellsburg, Iowa. Nevenhoven Funeral Services, Brooklyn, was in charge of arrangements.

Todd William Fiebelkorn

Todd William Fiebelkorn, 34, of Elgin, Ill., passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Sherman Hospital. He was born June 4, 1976, in Arlington Heights, Ill., the son of Terry and Sandy Fiebelkorn.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin...

He is survived by his parents; his siblings, Stacy and Travis Fiebelkorn; and his two nieces, Samantha and Payton...

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Edith Fiebelkorn; and his maternal grandparents, Norbert and June Rutkowski; uncles, Donald and Bud (Phyllis); and cousins, Carla, Craig, Scott and Steven.

Todd was employed by United Airlines.
