W. R. Cluett Suicides.
Wililam Ross Cluett
The Hot Springs, South Dakota, Star, gives the following particulars regarding the suicide of R. W. Cluett, son of George Cluett, of Blairstown:.
“Monday morning early, Chief of Police McCracken, was notified that a dead man was lying at the foot of Battle Mountain. The coroner was called and made a thorough examination. The dead man was laying on his right side with bullet hole in his right temple passing through the brain and coming out near the left ear. In his right hand he held a 38 calibre revolver containing three loaded cartridges and one chamber empty. From conditions it was evident the man had been dead twenty-four hours. A sign painter identified the body as that of a fellow giving the name of Richard R. Kenwood, of DeKalb, Ill. The verdict of the inquest was that deceased came to his death by his own hand. Through a money order receipt found in his purse his identity was made known by Cashier E. C. Boonsteel, of the James Valley Bank at Huron, who ordered the remains to be shipped to Blairstown. Iowa.
William Ross Cluett, son of Geo. and Ellen Cluett, was born in Blairstown, Iowa, Oct. 19, 1890, and died at Hot Springs, South Dakota, July 12, 1914, making him 23 years, 8 months and 23 days of age. His life has been mostly spent at home. During the past few years he has worked away from home a good deal of the time. There are surviving one brother, eight sisters and his mother.
The remains arrived here Saturday night and the funeral services took place at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Chamberlain - Blairstown Press
