Miss Noma Carolyn Scott - Machinist, defense

Portland Township Girl Now Machinist In Marine Corps Camp

Probably the only Kossuth county woman to operate a lathe in the making of precision parts in defense parts, in other works a machinist, is Miss Noma Carolyn Scott, daughter of prominent Portland township farmers, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scott. She has been identified with defense work in Cedar Rapids one year, in San Leandro, Calif. six months and the past four months in a Philadelphia plant. The photo shows her at a precision parts lathe. On May 30 she reported for active duty at the Marine Corps Women's Reserve school, at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
