June Knowles Gardens on New Hebrides

Shown in a victory garden on New Hebrides island is Miss June A. Knowles in background of photos, an American Red Cross recreation director in a naval hospital there and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Knowles, 8 Maple drive, Castle Hill; with her is Miss Kathleen Baden, Washington, D.C., Miss Noreen Mulrooney, Ireland and a native. Miss Knowles overseas since Nov. 5, 1943, was previously stationed in an army hospital in New Caledonia. Before entering service, she was a playground director for Waterloo recreation commission and a physical education teacher at Ackerly, Ia.

Replaces Uniform With Fancies

Soon the duffle bag containing Red Cross uniforms will be replaced by civilian clothes for Miss June Knowles, American Red Cross hospital recreation worker, who has secured an official release after completing two year of overseas duty.

Miss Knowles is shown inspecting her new civilian hat she brought from Detroit where she visited, enroute home to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Knowles, 8 Maple Drive, Castle Hill.
