Ronald Thomas Twito was born Dec. 11, 1921 to Oscar and Anne Otto Twito. He died Apr. 13, 1945 and is buried in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Mills, IA. He was initially buried in the 1st Marine Division Cemetery on Okinawa and returned to the U.S. in 1949.

Lt. Twito served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps Marine Fighting Squadron 322 (VMF 322), Marine Air Group 33 (MAG 33), 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (2nd MAW) as a squadron pilot flying F4U Corsair. He was KIA on a LST hit by a kamikaze while unloading at Okinawa, killing over 150 Marines.
