Petty Officer Schilder served with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

Melvin Le Roy Shaffer was born Dec. 26, 1920 to John and Rachel Jane Brown Shaffer. He died Mar. 31, 1945 and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Red Rock, IA. 

Pvt. Shaffer served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Harry Edwin Shay was born Feb. 15, 1920 to Thomas William Everett and Grace A. Larew Shay. He died May 3, 1946 and is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.

Sgt. Shay served in World War II with the U.S. Army 609th Engineer Light Equipment Company.

Merald Franklin Shive was born Nov. 16, 1907 to John Quincy and Cora Elizabeth Chrismore Shive. He died Mar. 16, 1947 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, IA.

Merald served in World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Arthur Allen Smiley was born Jan. 14, 1910 to Albert A. and Laura B. Jewell Smiley. He died Mar. 13, 1948 and is buried in Eureka Cemetery, Durham, IA.

Pvt. Smiley served in World War II with the U.S. Army 31st Medical Training Battalion.

Freddie Evor Smith was born Oct. 10, 1924 to Henry and Lydia Hendrickson Smith. He died Nov. 28, 1948 and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Red Rock, IA. Pvt. Smith served with the U.S. Army 363rd Infantry, 91st Infantry Division in World War II.

Harry F. Smith was born Nov. 6, 1913 to Henry and Lydia Hendrickson Smith. He died May 10, 1945 and is buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Red Rock, IA. Sgt. Smith served with the U.S. Army 21st Infantry in World War II.

Robert Lee Smith was born June 16, 1922 to Thomas and Lillie Dovenspike Smith. He died Dec. 28, 1943 and is buried in Marysville Cemetery, Marysville, IA. 

Cpl. Smith served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division and participated in combat operations on Guadalcanal. He landed at Cape Cloucester, New Britain and participated in combat operations until KIA. He was initially buried in the USAF Cemetery Cape Gloucester, New Britain and in 1945 re-interred in SUAF Cemetery, Finschaffen #2, British New Guinea. In 1947 he was move to USAF Manila Mausoleum #1 in the Philippines for movement to the U.S. and returned to the U.S. for permanent burial in 1948.

Carl Stanley Smith was born Jan. 15, 1903 to Henry W. and Nellie P. Smith. He died Aug. 8, 1947 and is buried in Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, IA.

Wendall Orvin Spaur was born Apr. 19, 1922 to Zenard Ray and Sylvia Grace Spaur. He died June 27, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 2, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Ensign Spaur served in World War II with the U.S. Naval Air Corps, Pacific Fleet Bombing Squadron and died as the result of a plane crash while in the service of his country.
