Petty Officer Everhart served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Gudgeon (SS-211) when that sink was lost on her 12th war patrol. He was MIA/FOD/KIA and awarded the Purple Heart and Asiatic Pacific Campaign medal.
