Laurence John Schechtman was born Mar. 19, 1923 to Henry C. and Bertha T. Morman Schechtman. He died Mar. 31, 1945 and is memorialized at the Courts of the Missing, Court 1, Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii and has a cenotaph in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Greeley, IA.
Petty Officer Schechtman served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bogue (CVE-9) and USS Anzio (CVE-57). He died while in the service of his country.
