The world Almanac listed these market prices for 1940: hogs—$5.39; cattle— $7.56; veal—$8.83; sheep--$3.95; milk—$1.82; chickens—13.9¢; eggs—18¢; wool—28¢.

A number of ladies met at the town hall to promote the establishment of a city park on the site of the former Milbert property. The ladies and the organizations they represented were: Mrs. W. M. Allen, Progressive Study Club; Mrs. A. S. Andre-sen and Mrs. S. B. Bergland, American Legion Auxiliary; Lucille Dessel, Altrua Club; Mrs. Ed Dahlen and Mrs. Glen Oyloe, Order of Eastern Star; Irene Meyer, Catholic Daughters of America; Mrs. John Weir and Mrs. C. F. Wallmark, Catholic Ladies Card Club.

The town acquired this property on Mechanic street by tax sale. The Milbert house was purchased at auction for $75 by Lawrence Meyer. The site was leveled and the present city park established. Rest rooms, cooking facilities, play ground equipment, picnic tables and a shelter house have been added over the years.

Editor Schmitz complained that Ossian has been overrun with hobos, tramps and bums this spring. He recommends that the town authorities send them on their way.

The annual municipal financial statement showed receipts of $9584.- and disbursements of $6871. The debt has been reduced to only $2500.

Figge Auto Co. advertised the Buick Special Sedanet for $1006 and the business coupe at $915.

Collins Cash Market listed prices of corn, peas and tomatoes at two cans for 19¢; gelatin—4 pkg. for 19¢ 5 weiners—1 a lb.; and lard 2 lbs. for 19¢.

The faculty at the public school for the coming year will have three new faces; Mr. William McEnelly, Miss Charlene Gilbert and Miss Helen Feller. Supt. Radtke, Mr. Healy and the Misses Kittlesby, Doris Arnold and Loretto McGary round out the staff.

Only five young people graduated from O.H.S. this spring. They were: Ruth Barnes, Sylvia Rogness, Robert Sand, Jerry Scholz and Lloyd Valland.

The De Sales students who completed their high school education were: John Andresen, Edwin Becker, Jerry Becker, Jean Becker, Pauline Barthelme, Rodney Buddenberg, Geraldine Bonfig, Aileen Brockamp, Cletus Bodensteiner, Billy Dessel, Jean Ann Gerleman, Betty Rooney and Inez Rooney.

Ossian's three milk dealers—Barthelme, Moellers, and Brockamp—served notice to their patrons that milk prices will be increased to ten cents a quart and six cents a pint.

Mr. McEnelly, the musical director at the public school, announced that the band will present a series of concerts on Saturday nights this summer.

Mrs. Albert Watne was appointed chairman of a clothing for Norway drive. Donors were asked to leave their contributions at the Lutheran Church.

Elmer Anderson will again treat the "Kiddies" to a movie this Christmas season. Santa will be in his store on Saturday to distribute the free tickets.
