Byron C. and Clara Sprow Kelley were married
September 18, 1889.
Came from Lee County, Iowa in 1894 to a farm
in Wayne County – four miles south of Allerton in
the White School District. They had
four daughters and two sons. All six
children graduated from the Allerton High School. The Kelley
family engaged in Dairy farming.
Helene K. Groff attended White School and
taught five years in the Wayne County schools,
following which she entered Still College of
Osteopathy in Des Moines. She
graduated and officed in Belle Plaine, Iowa three
years and later in Mason City where she is still
practicing. Is
the mother of a son and one daughter.
Velma K. Collings attended White School and
graduated from Allerton High School Normal Training
Course, taught five years as Assistant Primary
teacher before graduation from Spokane Business
College and teaching in Lidgerwood, North Dakota. Married in
1922 and resides in Green County, Indiana, and has
one son and two daughters. Ingrid
S. Kelley attended White School and Allerton High. Taught
three years at Fairview rural school before
graduation from the former Capital City Commercial
College and taught there one year before employment
with Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa, for
40 years, and continues to reside in her duplex in
Des Moines.
Eda K. Harper attended White School and after
graduating from Allerton High, attended University
of Iowa five years receiving her Masters Degree. Moved to
Lincoln, Nebr.
Is the mother of four boys and three
daughters. She
taught in University of Nebraska, Drake University,
and the Military Academy at Atlanta, Georgia.
B. Argyle Kelley attended Allerton Grade
School and graduated from Allerton High. Resides on
a farm two miles south of Allerton. He and his
wife, Eva Bryan Kelley, have a son and three
daughters.
Myron T. Kelley graduated from Allerton High
School. He
received the B. Sc. and M. Sc. degrees in chemistry
from the University of Nebraska and a doctorate in
Analytical Chemistry from Iowa State University. Recently
retired from 28 years with Oak Ridge National
Laboratory, he is still active as a consultant to
that organization and several others and is
continuing to live at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. |
