Diogenes

The following history of the Diogenes society was furnished by Mabel Armstrong Johnson and Leona Armstrong Perry.

The Diogenes society was organized in 1894 for young single women. Diogenes was the famous individual who took his lantern and went in search of an honest man. The young ladies of the Diogenes, being single, were also supposedly seeking men.

It was a social club. The first one to be organized in Zearing.
