Zearing, Iowa 1956 History

J. Fred Reed, of our community, served in the Iowa legislature. Later he was prominent in public affairs in Minnesota.

Raburn Miller, a former Zearing resident, is head football coach at Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa. William (Jiggs) Kniel, formerly of Zearing, is a prominent Iowa high school coach. Marion C. Chance was a member of the State University of Iowa baseball team during his college days. Bond Lane was a member of the State University of Iowa wrestling team in the 1920's.

Our community claims the following Story county officials who are either residents or former residents. All are serving in 1956.
