Tri County State Bank

The Tri County State Bank was organized on January 1, 1943. William H. Brandt was the first president. William H. Brown was the first cashier. The first directors were William H. Brandt, Charles F. Long of Union, Iowa, Roy J. Pulley, H. L. Swanson of Garden City, Iowa, and William H. Brown.

In June, 1943, William H. Brandt died. Roy J. Pulley succeeded him as the president of the bank. Walter Brandt became a member of the board of directors.

Dale E. Tisdale was discharged from the Army in 1945. Tisdale took Roy J. Pulley's place on the board of directors.

On January 10, 1956, the capital stock of the bank was raised to $60,000. Directors elected at the January meeting were Lloyd Hoskins, Walter Brandt, Kenneth L. Cerka, Dale E. Tisdale, and William H. Brown.

The Pollock Block burned in the fire of January, 1955. The Tri County State Bank purchased the lot. A new bank building is in the process of construction in August, 1956.

Farmers Shipping Association, Zearing, Iowa

Guy Bailey was one of the first promoters of the Farmers Shipping Association. The association was a cooperative organization formed for the purpose of helping farmers in the sale of their livestock.

The corporate period began on June 25, 1925. The association was incorporated for a period of twenty-five years. All livestock producers were eligible to join the association. The membership fee was $1.00.

The articles of incorporation were signed on February 9, 1925, by Charles Barnard, John A. Johnston, C. Russell Deal, Harry Wolford, and R. B. (Bert) Craft. The first officers were:
