Coleman, Robert H.—Bob was a member of the famous 34th Infantry Division. He served in Africa and Italy.

Reynolds, Henry Dale—Dale enlisted at St. Louis, Missouri, and received his early training at Murray, Kentucky, and Edmond, Oklahoma. He attended radio school at Auburn, Alabama, for five months. He was assigned to the U. S. S. McKinley, a communications ship. Dale was in the action at Peleliu, and nearby islands.

Zearing Service Organization
World War II

Ruth Thornton Chance furnished the information for the history of the Zearing Service Organization. The organization was formed on September 5, 1942, for the purpose of raising money to use in honoring our boys and girls in the service. The following served as officers of the Zearing Service Organization during the four years of its existence.

Minute Maids were selected to solicit memberships and to serve as waitresses at suppers sponsored by the organization. The Minute Maids were:

On November 1, 1942, the Memorial Plaque was dedicated. The names of all the local service men and women were inscribed on the Memorial Plaque. W. S. Rupe of Ames, Iowa, delivered the dedication address. Rev. Kerney gave the invocation. Music was furnished by the high school band. Every year at Christmas time, gifts were sent to all local residents who were in the service. Twenty six Easter boxes were sent in 1943 to those inducted after December 1, 1942.
