Thatcher, CHARLES NATHAN—Co. D, 7th Iowa Cavalry

Charles enlisted on January 15, 1863. He was discharged on August 8, 1863, at Des Moines, Iowa.

The 7th Iowa Cavalry was organized to protect the territories west of Iowa from the Indians. The organizing took so long that many soldiers, including Charles, were discharged before the unit left Iowa.

THOMAS, LEWIS W.—Co. I, 13th Iowa Infantry

Lewis enlisted on October 26, 1864. He was discharged on July 21, 1865, at Louisville, Kentucky.

Lewis campaigned in the Carolinas. He marched in the Grand Review on May 24, 1865, at Washington, D.C.

BORN: 1828; DIED: 1918 ; BURIED: Zearing Cemetery, Zearing, Iowa.

WEATHERLY, DANIEL E.—Co. B, 2nd Iowa Cavalry

Daniel enlisted on July 30, 1861. He was discharged on October 3, 1864, at Davenport, Iowa.

Daniel fought in the battles of Iuka and Corinth, Mississippi. He fought in the battle of Collierville, Tennessee.

BORN: 1839; DIED: 1904; BURIED: Bethel Grove Cemetery, Marshall County, Iowa.

WOOD, GORDON—Co. I, 4th Illinois Cavalry; Co. I, 12th Hlinois Cavalry Consolidated.

Gordon enlisted on November 28, 1863. The date of his discharge is not available. He was sick at the time the regiment was disbanded on May 29, 1866.

Gordon campaigned in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. He arrived in the war zone too late for the major battles fought in the area mentioned. However, Gordon was present for many of the minor battles and skirmishes.
