SHAFER, WILLIAM H.—Co. K, 1st Iowa Infantry

William enlisted on April 24, 1861. He was discharged on August 21, 1861.

William campaigned in Missouri. He was wounded in the leg and arm on August 10, 1861, at Wilson's Creek, Missouri.

SHAW, DANIEL D.—Co. A, 2nd Illinois Cavalry

Daniel enlisted on August 8, 1861. He was discharged on November 22, 1865, at Springfield, Illinois.

Daniel fought in the battles of Fort Donelson and Shiloh, Tennessee. He fought in the battles of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Mobile, Alabama.

SHEARER, SILAS I.—Co. K, 23rd Iowa Infantry

Silas enlisted on August 12, 1862. He was discharged on July 26, 1865, at Harrisburg, Texas. Silas was promoted to Fifth Sergeant on June 1, 1865.

Silas fought in the battles of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Mobile, Alabama. He campaigned through Louisiana and into Texas.

BORN: 1838; DIED: 1915; BURIED: Collins Cemetery, Collins, Iowa.

Stallings, SYLVESTER ABE—Co. D, 5th Iowa Infantry; Co. I, 5th Iowa Cavalry Consolidated

Abe enlisted on July 1, 1861. He was discharged on August 11, 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee. Abe was promoted to Fourth Sergeant on February 15, 1864.

Abe fought in four important battles in Mississippi. They were Iuka, Corinth, Vicksburg, and Jackson. He also campaigned in Tennessee and Alabama.
