Burkhart, JOHN C.—Co. A, 20th Iowa Infantry
John enlisted on August 10, 1862. He was discharged on July 8, 1865, at Mobile, Alabama.
John fought in the battles of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Mobile, Alabama. He campaigned through Arkansas, Mississippi, and into Alabama. with the Army of the Frontier.

CHANCE, JONATHAN—Co. C, 51st Ohio Infantry
Jonathan enlisted on February 20, 1864. He was discharged on October 3, 1865.
Jonathan fought in the battles of Atlanta and Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia. He was also in the battle of Nashville, Tennessee.

CLARK, WILLIAM H.—Co. D, 46th Illinois Infantry
William enlisted on December 29, 1863. He was discharged on February 1, 1866, at Springfield, Illinois.
William arrived in the war zone too late to participate in the major battles in the area where he served. However, he helped in the final battles and skirmishes in Mississippi. He also campaigned in Louisiana.

COUSER, JAMES BURNS—Co. K, 188th Ohio Infantry
James enlisted on February 11, 1865. He was discharged on September 21, 1865.
James did provost duty at Murfreesboro, Tennessee, until May, 1865. He did provost duty at Tullahoma, Tennessee, until July, 1865. He completed his period of service doing provost duty at Nashville, Tennessee, until September, 1865. Provost duty meant protecting the above list of captured areas from enemy raiders and saboteurs.
