Zearing men who gave their lives in the service of our country.
Complete information for this part of our history could not have been obtained without the help of Commander Max V. Ricketts of the United States Navy. Although Max was stationed in California, the information was obtained with the aid of his friend, Commander Howard T. Scott of Washington, D. C.
Max, a native of Zearing, has had a very successful career in the Navy. He enlisted after his graduation from the high school in Zearing. He was a pilot during World War II.

Peter worked for John and Thomas G. Lundy. He entered the service from Zearing, Iowa.

CARY, CLIFFORD L.—Battery F, 7th Field Artillery, 1st Division
Clifford was the son of Levi and Ella Cary. He lived in Zearing for many years. However, he was a resident of Minnesota at the time of his enlistment.

Golly, FREELY E.—Co. C, 54th Engineers (Railway)
Freely was the foster son of Fred and Delia Golly. He was married on December 14, 1917, to Annette Loufstead of Oelwein, Iowa.
