the families was active in community activities. In some cases it was local government. In others it was church, lodge, or veterans activities. Some were active in the Zearing Fire Department, Zearing Creamery Company, and organizations of that type.
BAILEY :
Albert Edward Bailey was born near St. Charles, Missouri, on March 31, 1871. He was a baby when his parents moved to Muscatine, Iowa. He was thirteen when his parents moved to Malcolm, Iowa. Ella Renner was born in Ogle county, Illinois, on April 9, 1871. The family moved to Victor, Iowa, when Ella was six mouths old. Albert and Ella were married at Brooklyn, Iowa, on November 19, 1895. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1919.
Albert and Ella were the parents of two sons. They were Lyle Chester and Carlton E.
Albert died on February 15, 1936. Ella died on April 28, 1948.
BROUHARD :
William C. Brouhard Sr. was born on March 6, 1887, at Colo, Iowa. Ella Cummings was born on September 26, 1884; at Colo, Iowa. William Sr. and Ella were married on September 26, 1906, at Colo, Iowa. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1918.
William Sr. and Ella were the parents of three sons. They were Donald L., William C. Jr., and Robert.
Ella died on July 11, 1943. William Sr. is living in Zearing in 1956.
BURKHEAD :
Orphe Z. Burkhead was born near Brandon, Iowa, on August 22, 1876. Alta M. Stuart was born at Grundy Center, Iowa, on April 19, 1886. O. Z. and Alta were married at Armstrong, Iowa, on May 29, 1907. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, on May 1, 1918.
O. Z. and Alta were the parents of three children. They were Mildred Burkhead Wood, Wayne, and Bernadine Burkhead Law.
O. Z. died on August 2, 1955. He owned the Burkhead Insurance Agency in Zearing at the time of his death. Alta is living in Clemons, Iowa, in 1956.
Coe :
John M. Coe was born on March 24, 1898, at Middletown, Missouri. Ethelyn L. Krubeck was born on December 8, 1898, at Chillicothe, Missouri. John and Ethelyn were married on August 15, 1918, at Minden, Nebraska. They moved to our community in 1919.
