nesota. Ed and his wife, Christine, and his brother, John, came together. John married Ella Force while living in Zearing. She was the daughter of Rev. Force.

When they sold the store, Ed and Christine returned to Minnesota. John and Ella moved to Greeley, Colorado.

The above information was supplied by Manly E. Dakins. Manly worked in the Woehler hardware store.

WOHLHETER :

Frederick Wohlheter and his son, George, bought the Patton & Johnson hardware store in 1888. Wohlheter & Son sold to Esau A. Allen & Son on December 1, 1902. Allen & Son sold to Joseph Johnson & Son in June, 1908.

George Wohlheter, the son of Frederick and Magdalene Wohlheter, was born on March 7, 1858, at Elgin, Iowa. George married Mary Jane Klock at Auburn, Iowa, on September 29, 1878. George and Mary Jane had no children.

Cecelia Wohlheter, the sister of George, lived in Zearing for some time. She was a music teacher. Cecelia married Vestal Parker. Vestal was a clerk in a local store.

Celia Klock, a sister of Mary Jane Wohlheter, was a local nurse. Celia married George Smith.

George died on February 3, 1940. Mary Jane died on November 1, 1937.

Wolford :

Harry Wolford is the only member of the original Wolford family who is living in our community in 1956. Harry has made our community his permanent home. Harry has always been one of our community's best citizens.

William Martin Wolford was born in Hampshire county, West Virginia, on December 6, 1843. William's parents moved to Illinois when he was a small boy. Enroute to Illinois, the father, Peter Wolford, died. William, the eldest of the five fatherless children, was called upon to assist his mother in the emergency. The record shows that William did an excellent job.

William married Caroline Scott at Dillon, Illinois, on August 3, 1865. They moved to State Center, Iowa, in 1894. 'They moved to our community in 1898.

William and Caroline were the parents of seven children. They were Frank, Florence, Emma, Charles, Edward, Harry, and Albert. William died on May 14, 1929. Caroline died on May 6, 1913.

WOMELDORFF :

I have a special regard for the Womeldorff family. Several members of that family were boyhood friends and playmates of
