2. Jesse W. Thatcher was born in 1847. He married Matilda Robbins. They lived on a farm in Lincoln township until 1888.

Jesse and Matilda were the parents of six children. They were Elbert, Edward, Lillian, Beatrice, Essie, and Pearl.

3. Charles Nathan Thatcher was born at Amboy, Indiana, on August 11, 1849. When he was fourteen years of age, he enlisted for service in the Civil War. After his discharge from the service, Charles was a freight man for the Union Pacific R. R. His route was from Deadwood, South Dakota, to Salt Lake City. Charles returned to Iowa in 1871.

Ana McDowell was born on June 15, 1854. Charles and Ana were married on March 22, 1877. Charles helped to organize the rural mail routes in our community in 1900-01. Charles and Ana were active in church and community projects.

Charles and Ana were the parents of three daughters. They were Leona C., Edna, and Ilo.

Charles died at Daphne, Alabama, on February 9, 1925. Ana died on December 23, 1922.

4. Viola Thatcher was born in 1856. She died in 1874.

5. Eldora Thatcher was born in 1856. She died in 1889. Eldora married Oliver S. Wildman. Oliver and Eldora were the parents of three boys. They were Roy, Earl, and Webb V.

6. William Joseph Thatcher was born on a farm near Winterset, Iowa, on October 31, 1861. William married Mae Norton on October 12, 1887, at Zearing, Iowa.

William and Mae adopted a daughter, Bessie.

William died on March 18, 1939. Mae is living at Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1954.

7. Ella Thatcher died when she was a small child.

THOMAS

The Thomas family was an important family in our community in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Lewis W. Thomas was a Civil War veteran.

Lewis W. Thomas was born in 1828. We do not have the place of birth. However, we know that he was living in Iowa in 1864. Caroline Roberts was born in 1830 at Cleveland, Ohio. We do not have the place of marriage or the date. They moved to our community in 1879.

Lewis and Caroline were the parents of seven children. They were Alice, Walter, Addie, Charles, Mary, Minnie, and Clara. Lewis W. died in 1918. Caroline died in 1910.
