Zearing, Iowa 1956 History

David Powell lived at the home of his son, Charles W., from 1905 until his death in 1938. David was ninety four years old when he died.

Dr. Charles W. died on February 20, 1930, at his home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Nellie is living at the home of her son in Visalia, California, in 1955.

PRICE :

James Marion Price was a very efficient justice of the peace in our community. He was also a prominent farmer.

Ellis J. Lewis said that he watched one trial conducted by Mr. Price. According to Ellis the trial was very dignified and proper.

James Marion Price was born on December 24, 1830, at Uniontown, Pennsylvania. James married Nancy Van Order on December 27, 1854.

James moved to Michigan from Pennsylvania. He served with a Michigan regiment during the Civil War.

James and Nancy were the parents of ten children. They were William E., Anna M., Charles A., Arthur Robert, Bert, Ella May, Katharine, Susie, Harley, and Glen.

James died on September 4, 1900. Nancy died on January 25, 1908.

Rahfeldt :

In 1955, Albert F. Rahfeldt is Lincoln township's oldest living pioneer resident. He is several years past the ripe old age of ninety. Albert has had a very successful life in our community. He is the local representative of the type of pioneer that made Iowa what it is today.

John Rahfeldt was born on April 29, 1825, at Berlin, Germany. Charlotte Baukman was born at Berlin, Germany, on February 2, 1830. John and Charlotte were married in 1855. John came to our community in 1866. In 1867, Charlotte and the children came.

John and Charlotte were the parents of seven children. They were Albert F., Edward, Andrew, Henry, Beckie, Minnie, and Marie.

John died on September 30, 1907. Charlotte died on April 14, 1907.

REESE :

The name Reese is another name that needs no introduction in our community. It has been a well known name in our community for many years.
