Thomas J. died on December 11, 1912. Martha died on October 8, 1917.

Thomas E., a son of Thomas J. and Martha, was born in Wisconsin on July 15, 1868. Thomas E. married Mary Morton on November 22, 1909.

Thomas E. bought the Farmers Bank from Nathaniel R. Clift and moved to Zearing in 1892.

Thomas E. died in Arizona on February 27, 1938.

Wallace A., a son of Thomas J. and Martha, married Mary Dunn in Hardin county, Iowa, on September 29, 1889. Wallace A. moved to Zearing to assist his father in the Farmers Bank. Thomas J. purchased the bank from Thomas E. in 1896. After the death of Thomas J. in 1912, Wallace A. took charge of the bank.

Wallace A. died on August 31, 1939. Mary died on August 8, 1938.

Robert R., a son of Thomas J. and Martha, married Clara George in Hardin county, Iowa. Robert R. moved to Zearing in the 1890's. He was a merchant. In 1902, Robert R. built the Pollock Block on Zearing's Main Street.

Robert R. died on December 4, 1938. Clara is living in California in 1954.

Powell :

The Powell family came to Zearing in 1905. The family moved to Manly, Iowa, in 1915. In 1926, they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dr. Charles W. Powell was a highly regarded physician in our community.

Dr. Charles W. Powell was born May 7, 1872, at Mount Hamill, Iowa. Nellie Bender was born on April 19, 1877, at Keokuk, Iowa. Charles and Nellie were married on January 30, 1896, at Cottonwood, Iowa.

Charles and Nellie were the parents of two children. They were Vida A. and Forrest George.

Vida A. Powell: Graduated from the high school in Zearing. Graduated from a business college at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Married Lowren V. Harper of Manly, Iowa. They have a daughter, Jeanne. The Harper family established a home at Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Forrest G. Powell: Graduated from the high school at Manly, Iowa, in 1923. A cadet for two years at Kemper Military. Graduated from the State University of Iowa medical college in 1932. Took specialized training in California for two years. Enlisted in the medical corps the day after Pearl Harbor. Served in Europe. Married Linda Loeck. They have two children, Susan and David.
