Joseph Miller was born on September 10, 1851, in Carroll county, Ohio. Mary Elizabeth Judd was born on November 27, 1856, at Wenona, Illinois. Joseph and Mary were married on May 16, 1875, at Wenona, Hlinois. They moved to our community in 1899.
Joseph and Mary were the parents of six children. They were Wallace, Ben, Thomas, Bernard, Fred and Lena.
Wallace died at Clinton, Missouri, in 1934.Ben died at Garden City, South Dakota, in 1919.Thomas is living in Silverton, Oregon, in 1955.Bernard died on May 31, 1942.Fred is living at Upland, California, in 1955.Lena Miller Downs is living in Los Angeles, California, in 1955.George W. Downs, the husband of Lena, died at Upland, California, in 1949.
Joseph died on June 5, 1926. Mary died on July 8, 1916. Joseph and Mary are buried at Mount Vernon, South Dakota.
Charles Miller was born in Grayson county, Kentucky, on January 12, 1824. The mother of Charles was related to the mother of Abraham Lincoln. We do not have the maiden name of the first wife of Charles. Her first name was Lydia.
Charles and Lydia were the parents of four children. Two died in infancy. The others were James William and Mary Ann.
We do not have the maiden name of the second wife of Charles. Her first name was Debora. Charles and Debora were the parents of eight children. Two died in infancy. The others were Nancy, Lucretia, John, Ruth, Francis, and VaLona.
The Charles Miller family moved to Zearing, Iowa, several years after the town was founded. Charles was the assistant to Albert D. Hix in the Zearing post office during Cleveland's first administration.
Charles, Lydia, and Debora are buried in the Bethel Grove Cemetery, Marshall county, Iowa.
