It seems that before William R. could move to Lincoln township, his father, William O., died. So William R. and Olive moved to his father's farm near Union, Iowa. They lived on the family farm all of their married life.
William R. and Olive were the parents of eight children. They were :
William R. died in January, 1936. Olive died in 1914.
Elwood Lancaster lived in Section 14, Lincoln township. He lived north of the school house which was located in the southeast corner of Section 14. The buildings where Elwood lived have been gone for many years.
Elwood married Alma Sawin. Elwood and Alma were the parents of two children. They were Rosa Lancaster Clemons and Gilbert.
Elwood died in Minnesota in 1914. Alma died at the family home in Section 14, Lincoln township.
LANE :
Jeremiah B. Lane was called Bert, by his friends in our community. The name, Lane, was a well known name in our community.
Jeremiah B. Lane came to Zearing in 1896 from Oskaloosa, Iowa. Bert married Buryle Reed, the daughter of Edgar and Harriet Holcomb Reed, in 1900.
Bert and Buryle were the parents of a son, Bond. Bond is a successful Denver, Colorado, business man in 1956.
Bert died on July 6, 1932. Buryle died on March 6, 1956.
LAYCOCK :
John K. Laycock was a local farmer and editor. John was a happy individual. A person who was depressed could find a remedy. The remedy was to listen for awhile to John's stories or to read his articles in the paper. Emma was also a very nice person.
John K. Laycock was born in Ohio on January 21, 1854. John married Emma Benjamin at Council Bluffs, Iowa, on December 8, 1885.
