munity in 1872. Jane Irvine was born in Northern Ireland on April 17, 1852. The Irvine family lived in Logan county, Illinois, before moving to Illinois Grove. Francis and Jane were married at Lincoln, Logan county, Illinois, in 1877. They established their home in our community.
Francis and Jane were the parents of five children. They were John A., Elizabeth, Frank W., Marvin I., and Anna. Francis and Jane moved their family to Knox City, Missouri, in 1903.
The son, John A., went to Missouri with his parents. While in Missouri, he married Essie Benner. John A. and Essie came to Lincoln township and established their home here. John A. died on February 13, 1955. John A. died at the close of a happy day spent celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary. Essie is living in Zearing in 1956.
Francis died on December 19, 1930. Jane died on December 17, 1928.
Jones :
The only member of the original Jones family living in our community in 1956 is Edith Jones Beach. Edith has been a highly respected resident of Zearing for many years.
Lloyd E. Beach, a prominent attorney at St. Charles, Hlinois, gave us the following account of his mother's family. Lloyd said that his grandparents and their children were born in England. His grandfather, Richard Jones, married Ann Wycherly. Ann lived near Ellesmere, England.
Lloyd's mother, Edith Jones, was born at Ellesmere. Edith was christened at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Ellesmere. Randall Jones, now living at Stuart, Iowa, was born at Penly Mill, near Ellesmere. Lloyd believes that Robert, Richard Jr., and Samuel were born at Ellesmere or Manchester, England. Anna Jones was born at Manchester.
The six children of Richard and Ann Wycherly Jones are listed above. The Jones family moved to our community in 1890. The family came to O'Brien county, Iowa, from England.
Richard and Ann are buried at Marshalltown, Iowa.
KELLING :
Mrs. Albert Nolta of Albert Lea, Minnesota, furnished the history of the Kelling family. The family was called the John Kelley family in our community. John Kelley is mentioned in Allen's history of Story county as one of the leading farmers in Lincoln township.
Hans and Marie Kelling were born in Germany. They moved to Ottawa, Canada, from Germany. In 1864, the Kelling family moved to Davenport, Iowa. Hans helped in the construction of the Davenport to Grinnell railroad. In 1866, Hans accompanied John
