Adelaid Burton was the sister of Sarah Burton Richardson. Adelaid came from Earlville, Illinois. Prior to her marriage to Charles, she taught school at Omaha, Nebraska. Adelaid met Charles while she was visiting at the Edward G. Richardson home. Adelaid is buried in the Zearing Cemetery.
When Charles Hurst left our community it is stated that he moved south.
Charles Hurst, age 24, farmer, real estate $1,000, personal $600, born in Prussia, Germany.
INGLEDUE :
The Ingledue family was prominent in Zearing, Iowa, in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Elwood C. Ingledue was the depot agent in 1889. Later he was a Zearing druggist.
Elwood C. Ingledue was born on October 7, 1866. We do not have the place of birth. Myrtle Stallings was born on March 27, 1871. We do not have the date of their marriage.
Elwood and Myrtle were the parents of three children. They were Merle, Marie, and Mabel.
Elwood died on October 22, 1902. Myrtle died on Maroh 27, 1907.
Ingram :
The Ingram family was an important family in our community prior to 1900. Milton Boster of Maxwell, Iowa, has given us considerable information about his mother's family. Milton's mother was Sarah Ingram Boster.
John F. Ingram was a brother of Elizabeth Ingram Allen. He married Sarah Allen who was a sister of Joseph Allen Sr. The Ingram family moved to our community from Wapello county, Iowa.
John F. Ingram came to our community in the fall of 1876. He bought 320 acres of land for $12 per acre. John built a house and barn on it and returned to Wapello county. In February, 1877, he brought his family to the new home.
John F. and Sarah were the parents of six children. They were Joseph, Sarah, Mary, Esau, Debbie, and Charles.
Joseph Ingram was one of Zearing's first storekeepers. His brother, Charles, helped in the store. You will find a story concerning Charles in the town government part of this history.
