George and Catherine were the parents of six children. They were Ananias, Fred, Cash, Lafe, Clara, and Lena.

George died in 1932. Catherine died in 1922.

HIX :

The Hix brothers, Albert D. and Walter D., were pioneer business men of Zearing, Iowa. Albert D. was a Zearing postmaster and storekeeper. Walter D. owned and operated a grocery and fruit store.

Albert D. Hix was born at Sycamore, Illinois, on May 27, 1862. He came to Story county, Iowa, with his parents in 1872. Cora Smith was born on April 7, 1872. Bert came to Zearing in the 1880's to accept the appointment as postmaster. Bert and Cora were married on February 22, 1891.

Bert and Cora were the parents of three children. They were Seymour R., Lee, and Elsie.

Bert died on August 23, 1946. Cora died on October 28, 1954.

Walter D. Hix was born on September 17, 1857, at Sycamore, Illinois. He came to Story county in 1872. Emily G. Tight was born in Illinois Grove, Marshall county, Iowa, on December 1, 1867. Walter and Emily were married on July 4, 1885, at State Center, Iowa. They established their home in Zearing where they owned and operated a grocery and fruit store.

Walter and Emily were the parents of five children. Two died in infancy. The others were Luther, George, and Florence Hix Lightfoot.

Walter died on January 20, 1943. Emily died on January 10, 1935.

Hoberland :

The name Hoberland needs no introduction in this community. It has been a well known name in our community since the 1880's.

Henry Hoberland, the son of Christian and Henrietta Hoberland, was born on May 5, 1863, at Somonauk, Illinois. Henry came to this community with his parents in 1880. Elva Edith Sparrow, the daughter of Ephriam and Jennie Sowers Sparrow, was born on March 17, 1867, at Sycamore, Illinois. She came to this community with her parents in 1873. Henry and Elva Edith were married on April 7, 1886.

Henry was an assessor in our community for twenty-eight years. He served as a town official in Zearing for a number of years. Henry and Elva were active members of the Evangelical Church in Zearing.

Henry and Elva were the parents of two children. Ilo Hoberland Holveck died in 1932. John died on September 26, 1954.
