Wenzel and Cora were the parents of nine children. They were Louis F., Fred C., Mary Havelick Golly, Hazel Havelick Armstrong, Lillian Havelick Gard, Dorothy M., Homer F., Arthur C., and Phyllis Havelick Olsen.

Wenzel died on July 24, 1936. Cora died on December 25, 1936.

HEFLEY :

The Hefley family lived on a farm west of Zearing for many years. They were highly regarded residents of our community.

Aaron Hefley, the son of Robert and Evelyn Hefley, was born in Story county, Iowa, on February 27, 1880. Aaron was very young when his parents died. He was reared by an aunt. Libbie E. Bartlett was a member of the Bartlett family of our community. Aaron and Libbie were married in 1905. They had no children.

Aaron was a member of the first graduating class of the high school at Colo, Iowa. He spent most of his later years farming near Zearing.

Aaron died on January 10, 1955. Libbie is living at Nevada, Iowa, in 1955.

HELSON :

The Helson. family was a prominent family in the history of our community. The family settled in our community before 1900.

Richard John Helson was born on September 12, 1851, at Sycamore, De Kalb county, Illinois. Phebe K. Richardson was born on December 15, 1853, at Richardson, Kane county, Illinois. Richard John and Phebe were married on December 25, 1873, at Sycamore, Illinois. They moved to our community in March, 1890.

Richard John and Phebe were the parents of four children. They were Carrie E. Shaw, Alice M. Marshall, Ruby M. Lindquist, and Jay H. Helson.

Richard John died on October 25, 1924. Phebe died on February 13, 1952.

Helwig :

The Helwig family lived in our community prior to the 1870 census. The family is listed in the 1870 census as follows:

Charles Helwig, born Hesse, Germany.
Lucinda, wife, born Hannover, Germany.
Frank, son, born in Illinois.
Also the stepchildren of Charles:
William Spohr
Sophia Spohr
Lucy Spohr

Charles Helwig was born in 1833 in Hesse, Germany. He came to Keosauqua, Iowa, from Germany. He worked as a tinsmith in
