David died on April 22, 1942. Elizabeth died on November 8, 1943.
William H. Gogerty was born on June 20, 1863, at Bivens Grove, Marshall county, Iowa. William married Eliza Jane Haggin in 1885. They moved to our community in 1890.
William and Jane were the parents of nine children. They were Richard A. (Berry), David, John, Henry, Edith, Grace, Ida, Cecile, and Nellie.
William died on April 2, 1952. Jane died on December 8, 1955.
GOLLY :
William H. Golly lived in our community for seventy-eight years. He was one of the leading citizens in the history of our community. William was a pioneer teacher, pioneer insurance man, pioneer Mason, farmer, and banker.
John M. Golly was mentioned in the 1890 history of Story county as one of Lincoln township's leading farmers and stockmen.
Their father, John S. Golly, was a pioneer farmer and hotel owner.
Andrew Golly was born in County Tyrone, Ireland. Andrew and his two brothers, Joseph and John, were among the early settlers of Oneida. county, New York.
Andrew married Lilly Scott. Lilly was also a native of County Tyrone, Ireland. Andrew and Lilly were the parents of nine children. One of their children was John S. Golly.
John S. Golly was born in New York in 1821. John S. married Catherine Logan. She was a native of New York.
John S. and Catherine were the parents of three children. They were William H., Lilias, and Mary J. Catherine and the two daughters died in Illinois in 1850.
John S., and the son, William H., returned to New York after the family deaths. In January of 1854, John S. married Eliza J. Mitchell of New York state. John S. and Eliza were the parents of a son, John M. He was born in Oneida county, New York, in 1855.
John S. and Eliza, accompanied by the two boys, William H. and John M., came to our community in December, 1864. They settled on the SE¼ of Section 15.
John S. died on October 1, 1913. Eliza died on January 1, 1929.
William H. Golly, the son of John S. and Catherine; was eighteen when he came to this community in 1864. He was born in Oneida county, New York, on October 25, 1846. William H. married Jane Perry on November 18, 1869. Jane was a native of England. She was the daughter of William and Mary Menhennet Perry.
William H. and Jane were the parents of ten children. They were Fred H., Lillian, M. Myrtle, Claude E., Clarence Ray, Walter S., William H. Jr., Catherine, Perry, and Russell L. .
