Zearing, Iowa 1956 History

Robert and Sarah were the parents of seven children. They were Eva L., Alta M., Grip L., Herbert L., Stella J., Victor C., and Ernest H.

Sarah died on June 16, 1923. Robert died on February 4, 1922.

FLOWER :

The Flower family was a well known Lincoln township family. John Flower was a. farmer in our community.

John Ellsworth Flower was born in Wisconsin on December 15, 1864. Ellenor E. Bull was born near Galesburg, Illinois, on May 13, 1860. John came to our community in 1890. John and Ellenor were married in Lincoln township on June 2, 1892.

John and Ellenor were the parents of five children. They were Constance, Berdine Pearl, Elvin E., Myrtle, and Viola Mae. Constance Flower Lundin maintains a home in our community in 1956.

John died on August 16, 1935. Ellenor died on February 16. 1948.

FRY :

Members of the Fry family were Zearing business people for many years. They were prominent residents of Zearing, Iowa.

Edward R. Fry was born on November 11, 1828, at Radnor, Delaware county, Pennsylvania. His grandfather, Henry Fry, was a native of Germany. Fanny H. Clift was born at Bath, England, on July 15, 1839. She came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with her parents at the age of three. Edward and Fanny were married at Rosemont, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, on April 30, 1869. They moved to Zearing, Iowa, in 1888.

Edward and Fanny were the parents of two children. They were Anna E. and Nathan C. Anna E. was the cashier of the Farmers Bank of Zearing for many years. Anna E. died on November 18, 1954. Nathan C. is living at Nevada, Iowa, in 1956.

Edward died on June 19, 1923. Fanny died on March 21, 1918.

GALBREATH :

The Galbreath family was one of the leading families in Lincoln township during the early 1900's. The Galbreath family moved to Blue Earth, Minnesota, in March, 1918.

William Galbreath was born near Wenona, Illinois, in 1852. Emily Powell was born near Weston, Illinois, in 1859. William and Emily were married at Weston, Illinois, on November 24, 1880. They moved to our community in 1902.

William and Emily were the parents of five children. They were Myrtle Galbreath Golly, Delbert, Lela Galbreath Madison, Orlo, and Glenn. Lela Galbreath Madison is living in Zearing in 1956. She is the wife of Ingvald S. Madison, local storekeeper.

William died in November, 1929. Emily died in August, 1937.
