DUNWOODY :
The Dunwoody family was originally an Illinois Grove family. However, members of many Illinois Grove families became prominent residents of our community. The Dunwoody family was one of those families.
Grant Dunwoody was born on January 2, 1849, at Peoria, Mahaska county, Iowa. Mary Lenora Spain was born on April 21, 1854, at Peoria, Mahaska county, Iowa. Grant and Mary Lenora were married on November 17, 1872, at Oskaloosa, Iowa. They moved to Illinois Grove in 1908.
Grant and Mary Lenora were the parents of nine children. They were Marion W., Dewey D., Charles L., Otto, Nina, Martin, Emma, Lena, and Lela. Lela Dunwoody Adams is living in our community in 1956.
Grant died on April 30, 1913. Mary Lenora died on November 13, 1919.
EATWELL :
The Eatwell family was a highly regarded pioneer family. The Eatwell farm was located northwest of Zearing, Iowa..
Albert C. Eatwell was born near Madison, Wisconsin, on June 6, 1860. He came to our community when he was a young man. Huldah Jane Meese was born in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, on April 6, 1865. She came to Iowa with her parents when she was three years old. Albert and Huldah were married on February 7, 1886.
Albert and Huldah reared a foster daughter, May. May married Guy W. Perisho.
Albert died in April, 1932. Huldah died on March 26, 1921.
ELEY :
George W. Eley was a prominent Lincoln township farmer. George served for many years as a Lincoln township trustee. In 1956, his son, Wilbur C. Eley, is a Lincoln township trustee.
George W. Eley was born at Mount Vernon, Ohio, in 1868. Nora McCormack was born at New Providence, Iowa, in 1872. Her parents came to New Providence from Greensburg, Indiana, in 1870. They were James and Amanda McLane McCormack.
George and Nora were married at Clemons, Iowa, on November 30, 1893. They moved to our community in 1894. George and Nora were the parents of four children. Claude and Lois are deceased. Wilbur C. has lived in our community all of his life. Avonelle Eley Olson is living at Kanawha, Iowa, in 1956.
George died in February, 1941. Nora also died in 1941. They are buried in the Zearing Cemetery.
