Davisson :

The Davisson family was a well known local family. We can also say that the name Davisson is a prominent name in Story county, Iowa. Lake E. Davisson has served as Story county's clerk of courts since 1921. He was reelected for another term on November 2, 1954.

Murlin J. Davisson was born at Earlville, Illinois, on April 2, 1869. Grace Eleanor Boozel was born at Earlville, Illinois, on October 25, 1873. Murlin and Grace were married at Earlville on October 30, 1889.

Murlin and Grace moved to Des Moines, Iowa, on March 1, 1896. They owned and operated a meat market in the Highland Park section of Des Moines until March 1, 1898. In 1898, the family moved to a farm in our community. On March 1, 1909, the family homesteaded near Faith, South Dakota. They returned to our community on March 1, 1914. However, Grace died at Faith, South Dakota, on January 27, 1912.

Murlin engaged in farming in our community until March 1, 1926. He moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1926. Murlin died at Chicago on July 29, 1947.

Grace and Murlin were the parents of ten children. They were :

Hazel Irene, born at Earlville, Illinois, on October 25, 1890.
Lake Edwin, born at Earlville, on May 23, 1892.
Gertrude Olive, born at Earlville, on February 4, 1895 (Deceased)
Henry Alexander, born at Des Moines, Iowa, on March 20, 1897.
Desdamone Inez, born at Zearing, Iowa, on March 26, 1899.
Murlin Arthur, born at Zearing, on March 30, 1901.
Stewart O'Neil, born at Zearing, on February 20, 1903 (Deceased)
Myrtle Ilda, born at Zearing, on September 22, 1904.
Pauline Avon, born at Zearing, on July 10, 1905. (Deceased)
Grace Eleanor, born at Faith, South Dakota, on January 26, 1912.

DAWSON :

Ethan and Jerusha were friendly people. Their home was a pleasant place. They were promoters of friendship in our community.

Ethan Dawson was born in McLean county, Illinois, on February 4, 1856. On October 28, 1888, Ethan married Mrs. Jerusha Laycock Galbreath of Ocoya, Illinois. They moved to our community on March 1, 1910.

Ethan and Jerusha did not have any children. Jerusha was the mother of a son, John Galbreath, before her marriage to Ethan. Jerusha's first husband died soon after their marriage.

Jerusha was the sister of John K. Laycock. Jerusha is living in Marshalltown, Iowa, hi 1956. Ethan died on September 6, 1922.
