death. Emma was born in Canada on July 7, 1861. She died on December 13, 1920.

Elisha was thrown from a horse. He died as a result of the accident. Elisha died on July 21, 1885. Sarah died on October 31, 1890. Elisha and Sarah are buried in the Zearing Cemetery.

Soloman W. Dakins was born in Canada on December 14, 1840. Soloman married Kate Cahill in Illinois on February 2, 1870. They moved to a farm in Section 16, Lincoln township, in 1870. Kate died on May 11, 1881.

On June 20, 1882, Soloman married Clara Gressley of Colo, Iowa. Clara was born at Upper Sandusky, Ohio, on March 13, 1862.

Soloman and Clara were the parents of two sons. They were Manly E. and Howard. Manly E. is a prominent resident of our community in 1956.

Soloman was a leading Lincoln township farmer. He furnished the land for the Zearing Cemetery. Soloman died on August 9, 1889.

In 1892, Clara married Ananias J. Hinecker. They were the parents of a daughter. Ananias died in 1935. Clara died on May 30, 1954.

DAVIS :

The name Davis was a well known name in our community for many years. Samuel R. Davis was a member of the G.A.R.

Samuel R. Davis was born in 1842. We do not have the place of birth. We do know that he served with an Ohio outfit during the Civil War. Sarah E. Wright was born on December 22, 1852, near Genoa, Illinois. She moved to Clinton, Iowa, in 1868. She met Samuel at Clinton. They were married on July 15, 1869.

Samuel and Sarah were the parents of eleven children. Three died in infancy. The others were Roy, Everett, Guy, Arthur, Rose, Edith, Maude, and Grace. Roy was a Zearing business man.

Albert Davis was a half brother to the above list of children.

Samuel died on October 4, 1913. Sarah died on August 5, 1930.

Hulda Marie Coulter was born in North Hampton, Ohio, on March 8, 1845. She married John Davis in 1860. John enlisted for service in the Civil War and Hulda Marie followed him. She was present when Vicksburg surrendered.

John and Hulda Marie were the parents of twenty-three children. Five of the children were living when Hulda Marie died on November 10, 1923. The living children were William, Dan, Clay, Harry, and Violet Davis Reed Stone.

John died in Utah. In 1888, Hulda Marie moved her family to Zearing, Iowa. Hulda Marie married Hartwell P. Chandler Sr. on April 28, 1901, at Story City, Iowa.
